ORganizing Drawers

I want to share a simple DIY to organize your space, more specific, your drawers.  Plus point: this is simple, not expensive and not messy either.  I promise!

In my previous blog, the organization of my home studio had to start with my wardrobe. To organize the drawers I made divisions, exactly to my needs: for socks, for my scarves …

I then used this idea/DIY for a craft cabinet I copied from Ikea. This cabinet and its 12 drawers, that I made out of wood, to the depth and width of my shelves to maximize their utility. However, the drawers being so deep/long, as shown in the video, things get totally disorganized. Those are being shown in the video.

Materials:

  • Foam board – Carton Plume (in French) – Kadapak (in Dutch), thickness of 3 mm or 1/8inch This is material used by architects/students for

    maquettes/3D models etc.

  • 2 types of pins: regular sewing pins and a longer size (5cm/2inch) as used for (dried) flower arrangements, wreaths, or people who build decors.

  • Ruler: both to measure and cut 90° angels.

  • Cutter. Scissors will not do the job.

First point of attention: measures twice/three times and cut once. ☺

Second point of attention: cutting 90° angels.

Third point of interest: since foam board is inexpensive and your cut was not accurate… nothing bad happened!

But… I do apologize…

In the video I first talk about “cardboard” but that is not correct. It is this foam board you need, with a foam core, so you can put pins into it. Something that is not possible with cardboard. I do get it right further in the video.

Have fun and enjoy your organized space !
